Testbeds

SEQUIN foresees tests on dedicated infrastructures operated by DANTE and the participating NRENs. A list of testbeds can be found on the TF-NGN pages.

EU: GÉANT
The new Trans-European research backbone will be available for specific tests during the buildout, as long as (and only in those places where) the current TEN-155 backbone is operated in parallel with it. The network will become available in early November 2001.
DE: QUASAR (Quality of Service Architecture)
Testbed for a German research project, based on 155 Mb/s links. (pointer?)
FR: PlaGE (Plate-forme Gigabit Expérimentale)
An experimental network based on 2.5 Gb/s links between Paris, Nancy, and Strasbourg (France). Status as of September 2001: awaiting deployment.
GR: GRNET's Athens MAN
Currently (as of July 2001) in the tendering stage. Planned availability: November 2001 for testing, January 2002 for operational use.
IT: GARR-G (Gruppo per l'Armonizzazione delle Reti della Ricerca-Giganet Pilot Project), see also the introduction in English.
Another experimental gigabit network, connecting Rome, Milan, and Bologna (Italy). Status as of July 2001: partly in operation; will be available until November 2001.
PL: PSNC (Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center)
Test bed based on various link speed and equipment and located in Poznan. Operational between April 2000 and August 2001. PSNC operates a MPLS/QoS test network on this infrastructure.
