GÉANT QoS deployment status
Explanation
The QoS configuration has been completed on most of the GÉANT routers. The
following IP QoS services are deployed: Best Effort, Premium
IP, DWS and Less than Best Effort. The colour of the routers indicates
the services available:
- routers in green: all the services co-exist:
Best-Effort, Premium IP, DWS and Less than Best Effort.
- routers in yellow: Best-Effort, Premium IP and DWS services co-exist.
These routers are Juniper M-40 with older FPC re-used from TEN-155. These FPCs don't have the "queue
priority" mechanisms, which prevents a perfect isolation of the Best Effort from the Less than Best Effort. The
Less than Best Effort will be accepted but in case of congestion, the Best Effort performances will deteriorate.
- routers in red: Best Effort only. These routers are Cisco 7500 series
with VIP2-50 re-used from TEN-155. The VIP2-50 are not powerful enough to support ACLs and QoS mechanisms needed.
